Mobilizing Love Concert--Shelly Torres-West

On Wednesday, October 9th, in the Aubrey City Park, Shelly Torres-west, longtime resident of Aubrey, Texas [and Aubrey 380 Area Chamber of Commerce member] will perform a program of jazz and contemporary Christian music in a benefit concert Mobilizing Love!  Shelly's love of helping children in need of mobility equipment mobilizes her to take action.  Through her singing and stories, she is mobilizing love in her audiences to help her make a difference.

In October, 2013, Shelly and a team of Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists and other technicians will travel to the Dominican Republic to fit physically challenged kids with specialized mobility equipment.  They will repair, rebuild, and modify existing wheelchairs as well as deliver and fit donated wheelchairs and custom seating systems. All year, this dedicated team has been collecting wheelchairs and mobility equipment.  Soon, they will be loading up a shipping container to take these precious gifts to their new home.  Additionally, they will train and equip persons in the Dominican Republic to maintain the equipment.  This effort makes a dramatic difference in the lives of the children and their families. The mission trip is done in partnership with a registered charity, Mission Emmanuel.  Each person on the trip raises their own funds to cover the costs of their travel, housing, and food beyond the giving of their skills, knowledge, and time.  Shelly is mobilizing love singing her way to the Dominican!
